Final Fantasy 14 adventurers have long requested a specific enhancement, and the development team has responded! Patch 7.3 will introduce a significant customization option for players who choose to play as particular races.
When Final Fantasy 14 originally launched, it featured five distinct playable races: Hyur, Elezen, Lalafell, Miqo’te, and Roegadyn. Since then, with each expansion, three additional races were introduced: Au Ra in Heavensward, Viera in Shadowbringers, and Hrothgar in Endwalker.
The initial implementation of certain races has felt limited to some players, but that’s about to improve. A recent announcement on the official Final Fantasy 14 website confirms that Viera and Hrothgar characters will gain access to a significantly expanded wardrobe, particularly regarding headgear.
Viera & Hrothgar Can Now Wear Hats
With the arrival of Patch 7.3, Viera and Hrothgar characters can finally adorn their heads with hats! This feature was previously unavailable due to the unique shape and ear placement of these races.
Interestingly, Viera characters will even have the option to toggle their iconic bunny ears on and off with specific pieces of headgear. One could imagine the Warrior of Light creatively modifying these hats during their downtime, between epic battles and the pursuit of the perfect gear.
Of course, Patch 7.3 brings many more additions, including new Main Scenario Quests, enhanced tutorials, new decorative items for housing, and an array of fresh equipment. Furthermore, Viera and Hrothgar now have access to new hairstyles, allowing for even more personalized makeovers before embarking on their adventures.
While the addition of hats may appear to be a minor change, it addresses an issue that has concerned players since the introduction of the Viera and Hrothgar races. A crucial aspect of MMOs is the ability to create and equip a unique character, and the inability to fully complete a desired look due to limitations in headgear options significantly impacted the customization experience.
