The horror genre boasts iconic names like Silent Hill and Resident Evil, both legends with long histories. While both franchises were consistently releasing games from their inception up until around 2012, Resident Evil maintained some level of activity. It eventually roared back to prominence with RE7 and further cemented its resurgence with the critically acclaimed RE2 Remake in 2019.
Silent Hill, however, faced a decade-long drought. This was made even more painful when PT, a promising project, was abruptly canceled. Only in the past year, with the unveiling of the Silent Hill 2 remake, did fans regain some hope. Sadly, the prolonged absence of new titles seems to have taken a toll on the community.
Now we have Silent Hill f. The game is garnering “Very Positive” feedback on Steam, and our review, along with many others, suggests that it has successfully revitalized the franchise.
Unsurprisingly, not everyone shares this positive view, which is perfectly acceptable. Disliking a game is a valid opinion. The issue arises when disagreements escalate into personal attacks, as is currently happening on the r/silenthill subreddit, prompting moderators to step in and curb the escalating toxicity.

</div>Recently, on r/silenthill, moderator u/IlgnerJuan announced a new policy via post: “Starting today, we will be cracking down on the toxicity in this community.”
The moderator explained that they are “continuously receiving reports and modmails regarding personal attacks, insults, and other hurtful comments within various posts and discussions.” Adding to the problem, some individuals have misused the reporting system by falsely accusing others.
The moderation team has appealed to the community, urging members to treat each other with respect and maintain civil discourse. They’ve even issued a warning, stating they will “permanently ban users who persist in creating toxic discussions, engaging in trolling or ragebaiting, and attacking those simply trying to have reasonable conversations.”
From all appearances, this decision was not triggered by a single incident but rather by a pattern of disruptive behavior from a handful of users.
However, there is a silver lining. In response to the moderator’s concerns, u/IlgnerJuan remarked that “this toxicity is becoming my own Silent Hill, lol,” to which fellow Reddit user u/qwertyalguien replied with a poignant quote from Silent Hill 2:

Regardless of one’s personal feelings toward Silent Hill f, resorting to personal attacks due to differing opinions is unacceptable.
With so many fantastic games available this month, wouldn’t your time be better spent exploring titles like Hades 2, Hollow Knight: Silksong, Dying Light: The Beast, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, or any of the other great games on offer, instead of engaging in online arguments?
