Fortnite is celebrating its revamped Marvel-themed
Blitz Royale experience by giving away a brand-new outfit for free this weekend. According to alerts within the game, players who achieve a victory in the Six Stack (Pure Chaos) version of Blitz Royale, the rapid-paced game mode recently introduced, will unlock the Bug Punk Sunny skin on Monday. This marks the debut of a new variant for Sunny, the beloved alien enthusiast first seen in the Chapter 2 Season 7 battle pass.
For players unfamiliar with Fortnite’s diverse array of battle royale modes, Blitz Royale is a streamlined experience. Featuring a maximum of 32 participants and matches lasting five minutes or less, it was initially introduced earlier this year to cater to mobile gamers following Fortnite’s return to iOS in the United States. However, Blitz Royale is accessible on all platforms where Fortnite is supported, not just mobile. In Six Stack (Pure Chaos), teams of six battle it out without bots or skill-based matchmaking, creating chaotic and fast-paced matches.
This is a significant moment for Blitz Royale, which received a complete map overhaul on Friday, now featuring areas inspired by Tony Stark/Iron Man. Specifically, these locations are pulled from Chapter 2 Season 4, the initial Marvel-themed season released in the fall of 2020. Beyond aesthetics, the game’s loot pool has also been refreshed with Marvel-themed items, including the sometimes criticized War Machine gear from Chapter 5 Season 4.
Bug Punk Sunny is the ninth complimentary outfit that Epic Games has provided to Fortnite players this year. Additionally, the Skulldroid skin was available for 100 V-Bucks to those who received free Twitch drops of the accessories. This number of free skins already exceeds the typical amount given in a full year, and we’re still three months away from Winterfest, Fortnite’s traditional source of many free skins.
