The vast world of Baldur’s Gate 3 is brimming with a wealth of enchanting items to discover. Like many role-playing games, acquiring every single one in a single playthrough is quite the challenge.
To truly outfit your character with the most exceptional magical gear, you’ll need to embark on a thorough exploration. Be prepared to confront certain non-player characters (NPCs) that you might typically overlook, as they possess the very items you seek.
One such treasure is the Gleamdance Dagger. This guide details exactly how to obtain this unique weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Locating the Gleamdance Dagger in Baldur’s Gate 3
You can acquire the Gleamdance Dagger during Act 3 from Farlin, who is positioned at the Smuggler’s Docks, located west of Wyrm’s Crossing. She is embroiled in a conflict near the docks.
To reach the docks, proceed westward from Wyrm’s Crossing. An easy landmark to follow is the Sword Coast Couriers building; head west down the path from there.
Expect to encounter traps along your path, so it’s wise to bring a character skilled in disarming them, such as a rogue. Eventually, you will witness a skirmish between Farlin’s group and rival smugglers.
Upon approaching, you’ll become involved in the fray. Farlin and her allies will be temporarily marked as friendly, making it clear who to avoid targeting. After vanquishing the enemies, Farlin will engage in conversation with you.
During this exchange, you’ll have the opportunity to attack. It’s advisable to resist the urge, as assisting Farlin and cooperating with her plan can reward you with a substantial amount of gold, which is always a welcome resource.
After the crew returns to their ship, follow them. You can then engage them in combat and loot the various items they possess. Upon defeating Farlin, you’ll find the Gleamdance Dagger in her inventory.
Farlin’s situation mirrors that of other NPCs like Gish Far’aag, who carries the Ring of Arcane Synergy. This means the only way to get Gleamdance Dagger is by defeating Farlin. Attempting to pickpocket her will only yield trivial items; the dagger remains elusive. Therefore, combat is the only method for acquisition.
Gleamdance Dagger: Statistics and Applications
The Gleamdance Dagger is an off-hand weapon, so it must be equipped in the off-hand slot to activate its effects. When equipped, it provides the wielder with a +1 bonus to Armor Class and emits a 6-meter radius of light.
The emitted light is perfect for characters lacking Darkvision, as it illuminates dark caves and rooms. The key benefit of the dagger is the +1 to Armor Class, which is especially valuable for characters playing as a Bard, Rogue, or Bladesinger Wizard.
Rogues can maximize its utility since they are effective dual-wielders, and many daggers work synergistically with it. Bards looking to dual-wield can also benefit, but might prefer a rapier or other finesse weapon in their main hand.
