Holding USDT only maintains value for transactions, while holding GUSD effectively provides indirect exposure to a consistently appreciating portfolio of U.S. Treasury-backed assets.
Gate.io anticipates that the total fund size of GUSD will surpass $100 million in the short term as the product evolves, thus creating a stronger market foundation. The platform plans to periodically release reserve proofs and details regarding cooperation with custodial institutions. This ensures public verifiability that each issued GUSD is entirely backed by tangible assets, guaranteeing reserves at 100%. Users redeeming GUSD will receive USDC, which can subsequently be exchanged for USDT or other cryptocurrencies, enhancing the transparency and reliability of the product’s association with dollar-denominated assets.
