, a crucial environment for testing changes to the Ethereum blockchain, is nearing its end-of-life.

The network is slated to be decommissioned following the completion of the Fusaka upgrade, with the rollout anticipated during the latter half of September.

The Ethereum Foundation has officially announced that Holešky will no longer receive support from client developers, infrastructure providers, and dedicated testing teams starting two weeks after the Fusaka update goes live.

Launched in September of last year, Holešky primarily served as a testing ground for staking mechanisms and validator configurations. The Foundation states that it gave numerous validators the opportunity to rigorously test updates before their implementation on the Ethereum mainnet, encompassing pivotal changes like the Dencun and Pectra upgrades.

The Hoodi network is now taking over the functions formerly held by Holešky. Already compatible with the Pectra upgrade, Hoodi will be employed for evaluating upcoming changes, including Fusaka. All validator infrastructure and staking tools are migrating from Holešky to Hoodi.

For developers focused on decentralized apps or smart contracts, the Foundation is recommending the use of Sepolia. This testnet will remain the preferred platform for application-level testing, while Hoodi handles protocol and validator development activities.

The approaching Fusaka upgrade, also known as Fulu-Osaka, is designed to optimize network data management by distributing the processing load more equitably among validators.
