Have you, like many others, found yourself unable to shake a certain audio clip from TikTok? It’s a blend of Anri’s famous song “I Can’t Stop The Loneliness” mixed with the distinct vocalizations of Hornet from the video game Hollow Knight. This sound became popular after the release of Silksong. While surprisingly catchy, it also highlights a key difference: those specific Hornet sounds are absent in Silksong. The classic cries, such as “SHAW,” “Adino!” and the unforgettable “Hegale!” are nowhere to be found. Thankfully, a solution exists in the form of a fan-made modification.
It seems Team Cherry made a deliberate choice to have Hornet use a more subdued vocal style for her attacks and special moves in Silksong, especially when compared to the boss encounter against her in the original Hollow Knight. Presumably, this change was made because hearing “SHAW” repeatedly for the 20+ hours it takes to reach the base game ending might become tiresome for some players. However, many fans missed these iconic sounds, and modder Nai has stepped in to provide a remedy with their mod, aptly named “HK Hornet Voice Restored.”
As the name suggests, this mod replaces Hornet’s new voice lines when using her silk abilities with her original vocalizations from Hollow Knight as a boss. (Thanks to GamesRadar for highlighting this!) It’s a simple mod, but a welcome one. Sometimes sequels feature seemingly minor changes that can have a significant impact on fans of the original, and it’s always interesting to see how players respond to these alterations.
Of course, some people are creating more… *ahem*… adult-oriented mods for the character. But that’s a whole other story!
