Annapurna Interactive launched their Tokyo Game Show 2025 presentation with a concise preview, unveiling three fresh indie titles set to join their already impressive lineup featuring games like Donut County, Stray, and Lorelei and the Laser Eyes. These upcoming games come from diverse development teams and showcase innovative genre blends. Could one, or perhaps more, become a leading contender for Game of the Year 2026? Here’s a quick look at each.

People of Note: A Theatrical RPG Adventure

While musical theater might not be for everyone, People of Note, a musical role-playing game, presents turn-based combat within visually captivating environments. Explore different cities with musical themes, recruit band members, and engage in rhythm-based combat that evolves with the music during each encounter.

If you enjoyed titles like Expedition 33 or Kpop Demon Hunters, this game might be for you. Developed by Iridium Studios, People of Note is slated for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC next year.

Demi and the Fractured Dream: A Zelda-Inspired Dungeon Crawler

Demi and the Fractured Dream offers a familiar yet engaging take on the classic Zelda-style puzzle-action formula. You’ll control an antlered character on a quest to break a mysterious curse, traversing various biomes reminiscent of titles like Journey.

The game features Devil May Cry-inspired sword combos and 3D dungeon exploration. Even the backward flip echoes Ocarina of Time. Although Zelda-like games are common, the draw is in the clever 3D puzzles. Developed by Yarn Owl, Demi and the Fractured Dream is expected on Switch 1/2, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC next year.

D-topia: A Cozy Puzzle Adventure Exploring a Utopian Future

D-topia presents a futuristic world where advanced AI has seemingly solved humanity’s problems instead of plunging the world into chaos. The initial trailer suggests a more optimistic outlook than a typical dystopian story.

Players will assist the AI in improving lives, exploring personal relationships and unique situations. Expect logic puzzles, branching conversations, and a charming feline companion. Developed by Marumittu Games, D-topia is scheduled for release in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, Switch, and PC.
