Remember when Saber Interactive and Universal revealed Jurassic Park: Survival? It might feel like a distant memory, and that’s because almost two years have passed since then! Updates on the game have been scarce, but thankfully, we’ve finally been given a fresh glimpse of Survival in action just recently.

Jurassic Park: Survival is an eagerly anticipated first-person action-horror experience. The game plunges players into the chaos unfolding a single day after the original Jurassic Park movie concludes. Gamers will step into the role of Dr. Maya Joshi, a new character stranded on Isla Nublar after the evacuation. Her objective? Survive the dangers of the dinosaur-infested island and discover a means of escape. The initial announcement occurred a while back in December 2023, and news has been light since then. However, that changed this week when Universal and developer Saber Interactive shared a new behind-the-scenes video.

On August 14th, the official Jurassic World/Jurassic Park YouTube channel released a video spanning nearly six minutes. The video includes interviews with key developers and other individuals contributing to Survival. Interspersed throughout are glimpses of the game, highlighting its commitment to movie-accurate environments, its connection to the original film, and the protagonist. It also showcases the visual design of the franchise’s iconic dinosaurs within the game.

That T. rex looks amazing! We also get a better look at how Velociraptors and the towering Brachiosaurus are portrayed in Jurassic Park: Survival. As a dedicated Jurassic Park fan, I’m becoming very enthusiastic about playing this game. Unfortunately, a release date for Survival remains elusive. And it’s seeming unlikely to be released this year. According to a press release from Saber Interactive shared with Kotaku coinciding with the video release, “Jurassic Park: Survival will not be at this year’s Gamescom.” There’s a possibility it could appear at Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live later in the month, but it’s best not to hold your breath.

To pass the time while we all wait, you could revisit the original announcement trailer from 2023. It’s still pretty captivating.
