Ongoing legal complexities stemming from the FTX collapse continue, with Michelle Bond’s situation taking center stage.
Bond, spouse of Ryan Salame, the former co-leader of FTX Digital Markets, is facing an upcoming hearing where evidence will be presented as part of her legal proceedings.
On September 21st, her legal representatives submitted a formal request, accessible here, asking the presiding judge to grant her the opportunity to address the court, despite opposition from the prosecuting attorneys.

Bond’s case revolves around allegations of illegally channeling $400,000 in contributions to support her campaign for public office.
During August of 2024, Bond faced charges encompassing a range of offenses, including conspiring to violate regulations governing campaign finance, both receiving and making contributions exceeding legal limits, taking funds from corporate entities, and employing intermediaries to obscure the true origins of financial backing. She denies all accusations against her.
Salame is among those who have had legal issues stemming from their links to FTX and Alameda Research. Following his guilty plea, Salame’s legal team unsuccessfully attempted to reverse the agreement. Their justification was based on the understanding that Bond would not be prosecuted.
That bid was ultimately withdrawn as Salame’s legal counsel announced that Bond would manage her situation through independent defense strategies.
Bond’s lawyers argue that her testimony is crucial for gaining a clear understanding of the actions of both her and her spouse preceding his plea.
Federal prosecutors have asserted, the document is available here, that her statements are unlikely to offer substantial insight into Salame’s previous plea bargain, primarily related to violations of campaign finance regulations.
In other news, Fenwick & West recently petitioned a judge in Florida to block updates to a lawsuit alleging its participation in events leading up to the FTX collapse. To discover the firm’s response, read the full story here.
