The annual Pokemon World Championships delivered a host of exciting news, notably unveiling fresh additions to the collectible Trading Card Game. The Pokemon Company showcased a computer-generated video featuring intense Pokemon battles, culminating in the reveal of a brand-new Mega Evolution card: Mega Charizard X EX, alongside a novel card rarity.

This Fire-type card boasts an impressive 360 hit points. Its signature move, Inferno X, inflicts 90 base damage. However, its power can be amplified based on the number of Fire Energy cards you choose to discard from your Pokemon in play.

For avid collectors, the highlight is undoubtedly the introduction of a new card rarity. These distinctive art cards are being called “Mega Attack Rares.” They stand out by featuring unique attack names written in katakana. Alongside Mega Charizard X EX, Mega Lucario EX and Mega Gardevoir EX will also be available in this special rarity. Look for these cards in the TCG’s upcoming “Mega Evolution” expansion.

The trailer also provided a sneak peek at additional Mega Pokemon EX cards slated for release in 2026, including Mega Dragonite EX. This evolved form of the popular Dragon Pokemon is scheduled to make its debut in the video game Pokemon Legends: Z-A later this year.

Card game announcements weren’t limited to the physical version. The Pokemon TCG Pocket app will be receiving Mega Evolutions this Autumn. The Pokemon Company also announced four-player battles for Pokemon Legends Z-A and confirmed Pokemon Champions as the headlining title at the Video Game Championships at the next Pokemon World Championships.
