A fresh title from the renowned HoYoverse is now public. MiHoYo, the Chinese game studio, revealed a brand new installment in the Honkai saga this morning: Honkai: Nexus Anima. While hints were dropped during the anniversary celebration for Honkai: Star Rail in May, the official unveiling happened today.

Essentially, Nexus Anima represents MiHoYo’s unique interpretation of the widely popular and enduring Pokemon concept. The game artfully merges the joys of collecting creatures with adventure gaming elements, and you might have the opportunity to experience it firsthand soon.

The introductory trailer for Honkai: Nexus Anima is more of a mood-setter, offering only glimpses of actual gameplay. Its primary purpose is to introduce us to the Anima – the fascinating creatures that you’ll befriend within the game.

The game unfolds in the world of Nexus, a realm characterized by “unseen connections” that link related concepts, such as the duality of Love and Hate, Light and Darkness, and Life and Death. As often occurs, the delicate equilibrium maintaining this world has been disrupted.

This cataclysmic event caused the concepts to scatter across the land, their essence manifesting as the Anima you will collect. By establishing a bond with an Anima, you’ll unlock special abilities rooted in the original power it embodies.

Players will embody a character capable of navigating diverse realms. As the narrative unfolds, you will encounter Anima possessing distinct personalities and unique powers. The official press release states that these abilities will aid both exploration and combat encounters.

Regarding combat, the precise mechanics in Nexus Anima remain a mystery, but indications suggest a system echoing Pokemon’s turn-based battles, yet presented from a perspective reminiscent of Teamfight Tactics. The wait to see more won’t be extensive, as the game’s initial closed beta test is drawing near.

Registration for the Nexus Bond Test is currently open, running until September 12. The test is accessible on PC and iOS devices. While awaiting gameplay footage, exploring the official site is worthwhile, as it provides a sneak peek at some Anima and the Animasters – the characters you’ll embody during your adventure.
