Pinterest is now offering a way for its community to curtail the amount of artificial intelligence-produced imagery they encounter on the platform.

This enhancement, unveiled on October 16th, gives users the ability to fine-tune their feeds by controlling the prevalence of AI-generated material.

The functionality is accessible through the Settings menu, specifically within a section labeled “Refine your recommendations”. From this area, individuals can opt to decrease the visibility of AI-created content across various categories, including beauty, fashion, artwork, and interior design.

Pinterest has indicated that additional categories will be incorporated based on user feedback. Users retain the flexibility to modify their preferences at any point.

Beyond the global settings, individuals can also provide specific input on individual Pins. Should a user encounter content that appears AI-generated and does not align with their interests, they can utilize the post’s menu to signal that they wish to see less similar content in the future.

These new options are currently available on the Pinterest website and its Android application. The iOS version is anticipated to follow suit within the coming weeks.

According to Matt Madrigal, Pinterest’s CTO, the objective is to empower users to personalize their experience and discover material more closely aligned with their individual tastes, rather than eliminating all AI-driven content.
