Across a multitude of relaxing simulation games, the fishing mechanic, while almost universally present, often varies in subtle yet frustrating ways. It frequently becomes a source of minor irritation for players. In Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, fishing isn’t immediately available. However, upon unlocking it, angling becomes a valuable asset for obtaining food, generating income, and completing collections. Investing time to improve your fishing skills is therefore a worthwhile endeavor.

Getting Started with Fishing

The ability to fish unlocks upon reaching Winter Village, subsequent to an introductory sequence featuring new characters and the game’s setting. Locate Watarase, the village’s fisherman, below the primary bridge. His residence is a small dwelling near the water, accompanied by a fishing pier extending over the rapids. He’s easily identifiable by his distinctive fish-head hat.

After Watarase provides you with the PescaPedia, a log for tracking captured fish species, and a fishing rod, he directs you to the water. Consult your map; fish-shaped icons denote significant fishing spots around the village, situated directly over the water. Visiting each location will reveal shadows moving beneath the surface. Approaching closely allows you to cast your line into the designated area.

With the line cast, patiently await a bite. The water will subtly ripple, indicating a fish nibbling, and the bobber will submerge. At this moment, promptly press the interaction button to reel in your catch.

The species of fish caught is determined randomly. Therefore, to acquire every type, revisiting the fishing spots at various times of day and during different weather conditions is essential.
