The upcoming survival horror game, Resident Evil: Requiem, continues to build anticipation as a leading title for 2026. A brand-new trailer premiered during Opening Night Live, offering fans a fresh glimpse into the terrifying world Capcom is crafting.
From its initial reveal, Requiem has presented itself as a unique entry in the Resident Evil saga. While the latest trailer maintains this unusual feel, it hints that the game may deviate from the conventional sequel formula that some players anticipated.
The heart of the new trailer seems to beat with intense family drama. Players will step into the shoes of Grace Ashcroft, seemingly trapped with her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft, inside a residence on the verge of a terrifying event.
The trailer offers peeks at gameplay, featuring suspenseful exploration in near-complete darkness, illuminated only by flashlight beams. While visually impressive, some viewers may crave more action-packed sequences within the preview.
First unveiled in early June after extensive rumors, Requiem diverges from expectations of an open-world, Far Cry-style experience. Instead, it’s presented as a story-driven horror adventure with action elements, set within the future timeline of the Resident Evil universe.
Players will control Grace Ashcroft – a character who appears easily startled – as she navigates the ruined landscape of Raccoon City. Resident Evil: Requiem offers the flexibility to play through the entire game in either first-person or third-person perspectives. It’s currently under development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with a scheduled launch date of February 27, 2026.
