A fresh modification for Hollow Knight: Silksong now allows players to jump directly into any of the game’s challenging boss encounters using a special in-game menu. This effectively transforms the celebrated metroidvania title into a personalized gauntlet of intense battles.
After all, who doesn’t yearn for the chance to repeatedly test their skills against a favored foe, bask in the thrill of victory, and revel in the triumphant feeling of overcoming a difficult challenge? Alternatively, players might simply seek targeted practice against specific bosses to refine their strategies before embarking on a complete playthrough.
This modification, dubbed Godhome and created by Cuckson, (a name that we will try to avoid reading into) introduces a dedicated Silksong boss encounter selector. As the name suggests, it grants instant access to any major boss fight the game offers, whenever the player desires.
While the creator suggests that game progress should remain unaffected, they also caution that this mod, still under development, “could potentially corrupt save data.” Therefore, they advise using the provided 100% completed save file included with the mod. Cuckson explains, “While this modification is active, data saving will be disabled to prevent corruption or progress loss if used on a main save file. To enable saving, first deactivate or remove this mod from your plugins folder.”
With the mod installed, pressing the “B” key will bring up a menu displaying the various boss fights available. From the Savage Beastfly to Chef Lugoli, players can instantly teleport to any encounter. The player will arrive at “the closest point to the boss accessible through normal scene loading,” often placing them directly adjacent to the arena, ready for immediate combat. A “safe zone” option is also included, providing a place to prepare or recover between intense battles.
For players who have already completed Silksong, this mod effectively transforms the game into a boss rush mode, allowing them to endlessly revisit and conquer their favorite challenges. This differs from existing teleportation mods, such as ‘Bonfire Teleport‘ and ‘Stakes of Marika – Rebirth Anywhere‘ by Kassent, which primarily streamline traversal and respawning between established checkpoints within a standard playthrough. Another mod, ‘Boss retry menu‘ from Pilout, enables immediate retries after failing a specific boss encounter.
To install Godhome, you’ll need the BepInEx 5 with configuration manager framework, or you can find it on GitHub for systems other than 64-bit Windows. Separately, Team Cherry deployed their second patch into the Steam beta yesterday, addressing bugs and improving stability.
