In the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong, accumulating in-game currency can be a significant challenge. Whether your goal is to purchase essential keys, upgrade your tools, or safeguard your collected Rosaries, the costs can quickly add up. Fortunately, the game offers opportunities to gather Rosaries by defeating specific enemies, a mechanic that can be strategically utilized.
This guide will present some of the most efficient techniques for earning currency, highlighting prime locations within various game areas to farm Rosaries. For this guide to be effective, it assumes you’ve progressed through at least the initial four regions of the game.
This includes venturing from the Moss Grotto, navigating The Marrow, overcoming Lace in the Deep Docks, and acquiring both the dash and cloak abilities before departing the Far Fields. While the boundaries of the mid-game and late-game stages are less defined, itβs expected that you’ll have access to at least one of the areas discussed.
These farming strategies enable rapid Rosary collection and are largely repeatable. While perhaps not as enjoyable as natural exploration, these methods are a reliable means to bolster your finances and should require only a short time investment.
Quests
Before focusing on repeatable methods, it’s highly advisable to complete any available quests. Fulfilling wishes frequently grants substantial Rosary rewards and, occasionally, unique items. Delaying these quests can be detrimental.
Quests are often encountered in Bone Bottom during the early stages. Later, they appear in Bellhart, Songclave, and any location with a reasonable population.
Unless you are certain you want to skip them, prioritize quests. If quest opportunities are limited, consider engaging in enemy grinding.
Act 1 Early Game
Most common enemies primarily drop Shell Shards, making it difficult to find a suitable grinding location in the beginning. However, a conveniently positioned bench near an enemy in the upper-left area of Deep Docks provides a perfect opportunity. Defeating this enemy yields seven Rosaries per kill.
While seemingly small, the proximity of the bench allows for repeated encounters. Each cycle takes roughly 10β15 seconds, translating to approximately 35 Rosaries per minute, or 2100 per hour.
Extended grinding is not generally recommended, but this method is a viable option for acquiring the Simple Key in Bone Bottom. Many items unlocked with currency are optional, so consider delaying their purchase.
This is also a suitable time to begin stringing Rosaries. Purchase beads from the shopkeeper in Bone Bottom to mitigate the risk of losing currency upon death.
Act 1 Late Game
This section assumes you’ve progressed to the Blasted Steps, possessing the Cling Grip, saving Bellhart, and hopefully securing your first nail upgrade from the Pinmaster in Bellhart (it’s free!).
Travel to Greymoor and rest at the Halfway Home bench. Two screen transitions to the right, you’ll find a group of three Citadel enemies. These enemies are carrying valuables. Defeating them yields roughly 30 Rosaries.
Although the cycles take longer, roughly 20β25 seconds each, the yield is higher. This is particularly efficient if you also need Shell Shards and have the Shard Pendant equipped. Efficient combat can net you around 90 Rosaries per minute, or 5400 per hour.
Alternatively, try the bench in the room between Shellwood and Bone Bottom. The location is slightly more challenging to reach, making it roughly as time-consuming. However, optimized navigation may lead to faster results.
Act 2 Early Game
For this section, it is expected that you have explored the Citadel and discovered the Bellway at the bottom left of the Choral Chambers. While optional, acquiring the second nail upgrade will improve efficiency.
This method offers a marginal improvement over the Greymoor approach. Two Citadel enemies are conveniently located just outside the Bellway, simplifying the farming process. However, the Rosary yield remains at 30 per cycle, with distance being the key differentiator.
Requiring travel across only one room, and with the Charge Slash and Silkspeed Anklets, these cycles can be completed in 15β20 seconds. Four cycles per minute results in 120 Rosaries per minute, or 7200 per hour.
The following method is technically accessible at this stage. However, it’s not recommended without the Fay Cloak and a third nail upgrade. Conversely, if you’re further into the game, this method remains viable.
Act 2 Late Game
Having reached a point where you deal significant damage and can overcome most obstacles, you can now focus on larger enemies. Confidence in fighting the Citadel guards near the path to the Cogwork Core is essential, as taking damage results in currency loss.
Equip the Thief’s Mask, acquired by using your wings to reach the Thief’s Den in Blasted Steps, for increased currency gains. Adding the Barbed Bracelet (double damage) further enhances efficiency.
Proceed down the long hallway, defeat the guards to acquire 55 Rosaries each. Rest at the Cogwork Core bench, return down the hallway, defeat more guards, and rest at the Songclave bench. While the cycle length depends on your skill, expect roughly 150 Rosaries per cycle.
Completing these cycles in 45 seconds equates to 9000 Rosaries per hour. This substantial income makes alternative methods less appealing, especially since a few thousand Rosaries should suffice for most needs.
