Amidst the excitement for a revamped version of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, it’s worth remembering another significant update related to the game is on the horizon. This update comes in the form of a fan-made modification for Skyrim.

Skyblivion, a mod designed for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, is an ambitious project intending to effectively recreate Oblivion within the Skyrim engine.

The recent release of Oblivion Remastered prompted questions about Skyblivion’s future: Would the project be halted by Bethesda? Does it still hold value? The Skyblivion team, and many others, firmly believe the answer is yes.

Skyblivion is a complete, ground-up reimagining of Oblivion, bringing it up to par with modern RPG standards.

Skyblivion offers advantages over Oblivion Remastered by including cut content, such as new dungeons, towns, and enhanced gameplay mechanics. It can be considered a Director’s Cut of sorts for Oblivion.

Skyblivion Team Shares Initial 15 Minutes of Gameplay

In anticipation of Skyblivion’s launch, the development team has presented a sneak peek featuring the first 15 minutes of gameplay.

This preview offers a glimpse at new character designs, enhanced weaponry and armor, an overhauled lockpicking system, and much more.

The Skyblivion team maintains that their mod significantly enhances the Oblivion experience, moving beyond a mere visual upgrade. They emphasize that both versions can coexist, a sentiment shared by Bethesda.

Bethesda supports the Skyblivion mod and even provided the entire development team with complimentary copies of Oblivion Remastered earlier in the year. The Skyblivion team has consistently stated that their project faces no threat of cancellation from Bethesda.

To further alleviate any concerns, Bethesda has publicly confirmed that they have no intentions of halting our project.

Adding to the appeal, while Oblivion Remastered may have limited modding capability, Skyblivion will benefit from the extensive Skyrim modding community, launching with a significant level of support and potential for future enhancements.
