Fans who have been diving into the intrigue of the version 2.2 update for Zenless Zone Zero, released at the beginning of the month, are likely nearing the end of the fresh content. This means it’s almost time to look forward to the next exciting installment.
Officially revealed earlier today, Memories of Dreams Bygone, also known as version 2.3, is slated to arrive on October 15th – giving players approximately two weeks to prepare.
Version 2.3 of Zenless Zone Zero tackles player feedback directly, specifically addressing the earlier Version 2 updates where Rupture-type characters were notably absent from banner events. To compensate, 2.3 introduces three brand-new Agents to the lineup: Lucia, Yidhari, and Komano Manato.
Lucia, an S-Rank Ether Support Agent, has a deep connection to the Ethereal. Her abilities reflect this, allowing her to conjure Ethereals during combat. She utilizes Dream Points to enter a Dream state and unleash Ether Veil: Wellspring, which increases the maximum HP of all allies while boosting the team’s Sheer Force and Aftershock frequency.
Yidhari is another S-Rank Agent and fulfills the demand for a Rupture-focused character. Her Ice-based attacks consistently inflict Sheer damage, and her Sheer Force grows in proportion to her max HP. A fascinating twist, however, is that Yidhari’s damage output increases as her HP decreases, introducing a unique risk-reward dynamic to her gameplay.
Komano Manato joins the team as the only A-Rank addition, serving as a Fire Rupture Agent. Similarly, his Sheer damage is influenced by his maximum HP. In terms of returning characters, Version 2.3 will feature Vivian (S-Rank, Ether – Anomaly) and Ju Fufu (S-Rank, Fire – Stun) in upcoming banner events.
The upcoming chapter will take players to Timesworn Hills, and have you working alongside Spook Shack. The new area, mirroring the update’s theme, leans heavily into a spooky ambiance featuring abandoned research facilities and untold tales of experiments gone wrong.
The story unfolds with a classic mystery: a disappearance. Miners and Porcelumex employees have vanished, prompting an investigation. Timesworn Hills is also abundant in Lumite ore.
Memories of Dreams Bygone brings gameplay improvements to Soldier 0 – Anby, providing a buff and adjustments to her combat style. Also coming is Threshold Simulation, a new challenging activity designed to test your endurance by pitting you in several consecutive battles.
Zenless Zone Zero introduces a touch of turn-based combat in the update through the When Dreams Remain Unfinished event. Players will have the chance to control monsters with distinct abilities. Participating in this event guarantees players access to Agent Komano Manato.
The SNAP! Shining Strike photography event will be making a comeback, now packed with expanded camera settings, filter options, and creative frames.
Included in today’s announcements were glimpses of Agents Banyue, Dialyn, Zhao, and Ye Shunguang, which HoYoverse says are slated to join the action in the near future. Also, logging in during Version 2.3 rewards you with 600 Polychromes, 10 Encrypted Master Tapes, and 10 Boopons.
