The popularity of Dungeons & Dragons has surged in recent years, fueled in part by the hit series Stranger Things. Netflix’s nostalgic, supernatural show prominently features the tabletop role-playing game. Characters not only play D&D, but also name their otherworldly adversaries after creatures from the game’s lore. Now, fans can dive into the Stranger Things gang’s tabletop escapades with a brand new D&D crossover, Stranger Things: Welcome to the Hellfire Club.
This new game offers a streamlined D&D experience, providing everything needed for easy setup. It includes adventures based on campaigns crafted by Eddie Munson, the Stranger Things character. Although the final season of Stranger Things will be released November 26, fans can join the Hellfire Club from October 7. Preorders for the crossover game are available on Amazon for $50.
$50 | Releases October 7
Dungeons & Dragons Stranger Things: Welcome to The Hellfire Club is inspired by Eddie Munson’s in-show D&D club. Designed for 3-5 players plus a Dungeon Master (DM), it uses Dungeons & Dragons mechanics. Instead of creating unique characters, players choose from pre-made roles based on the D&D characters played by the Stranger Things cast, such as Nog the Dwarf and Dustin’s Cleric. They then embark on four guided adventures based on Eddie Munson’s campaigns.
Welcome to The Hellfire Club diverges from the traditional full version of D&D, which often requires extensive rulebooks and imagination-based gameplay. Instead, it embraces a board game format similar to HeroQuest, featuring cards for spells, items, and creatures. Illustrated grid maps and punch-out tokens for playable characters and monsters are also included. The box contains everything needed to play Dungeons & Dragons Stranger Things: Welcome to The Hellfire Club Adventure Game, including:
- Play Guide Booklet
- Quick-Start Guide
- Four Adventure Booklets
- Four Handouts
- Hellfire Club Poster & Poster Maps
- Combat Tracker
- DM Screen
- 11 Dice
- 91 Cards for Spells, Magic Items, Monsters
- 72 Tokens for Player Characters and Monsters
- 15 Character Sheets
All the pieces have a retro art style inspired by 1980s heavy metal and classic D&D illustrations. Dungeons & Dragons Stranger Things: Welcome to The Hellfire Club Adventure Game offers a structured, accessible tabletop gaming experience, making it perfect for Stranger Things fans who enjoy TTRPGs or newcomers looking to explore the world of tabletop games.
This TTRPG isn’t the first Stranger Things board game. CMON Limited released Upside Down in 2023, a cooperative strategy game for 2-4 players based on the show’s first two seasons. Stranger Things: Upside Down is available on Amazon for $50.

For D&D enthusiasts, there’s the recently launched Horrified: Dungeons & Dragons board game. Originally slated for August 10, the game is already available at Target for $30. Amazon also has a store page for the game, although it’s not yet available for purchase. In addition to the new D&D releases, tabletop fans interested in themed adventures should explore the new HeroQuest: The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness Quest Pack expansion, releasing in August. This set features 10 adventures designed by actor and TTRPG enthusiast Joe Manganiello, with new cards, dungeon tiles, dice, and a metallic Black Dragon miniature. Similar to Welcome to the Hellfire Club, The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness boasts a heavy metal aesthetic suitable for Manganiello’s dark fantasy adventures. It is currently sold out on Amazon but may be restocked soon.
The Crypt of Perpetual Darkness requires the HeroQuest base game, currently available for $88 (down from $135), or the HeroQuest: First Light set, available for $50. As noted above, HeroQuest is a more approachable, board-game-style TTRPG, ideal for those new to the genre or those who prefer a tactile, mechanics-driven tabletop experience combined with the aesthetics and depth of traditional pen-and-paper games.
