Within the expansive world of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, numerous side stories await discovery, notably those involving the gentle Nevrons, each seeking aid in their own distinct way. Some crave illumination, while others simply long for an attentive ear to hear their narratives.
One such task involves a Benisseur, stranded at the Continent’s southern border. This guide details how to successfully conclude its quest and secure valuable rewards.
Benisseur Nevron Quest Location in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
The game features numerous unique Nevron quests to uncover and complete, contributing to the Aiding the Enemy trophy/achievement. The Benisseur’s challenge is one of these, accessible relatively early in the main narrative.
Entitled “The Fountain in the Red Woods,” this quest requires locating the Red Woods area. After departing from Flying Waters on the Continent’s southern side, venture westward, passing The Small Bourgeon (another site of a Nevron quest).
The Red Woods can be entered regardless of your character’s level as there are no hostile entities there. The quest objectives may require some time to fulfill.
Completing the Benisseur Nevron Quest in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Upon entering the Red Woods, proceed straight ahead until you encounter a sizable bowl-shaped structure filled with bubbling liquid. Interact with it, and the game will identify it as “an odd-looking fountain.”
Subsequently, a prompt will appear, stating, “Chroma swirls inside,” accompanied by an option to contribute approximately 5,000 x Chroma. If you possess this amount, proceed. The “fountain” will then issue a cryptic riddle, sparking the curiosity of your party members. You will then be offered the opportunity to repeat the process.
Re-engage with the “fountain.” Similar dialogue will appear, but this time requesting a contribution of 10,000 x Chroma. Once you acquire this amount, deposit it. In response, the fountain will provide yet another cryptic riddle, this time concerning “grief.”
When you’re ready, interact with the “fountain” again. This time, a request for 25,000 x Chroma will appear. This may be a significant hurdle early on, depending on your story progression and level grinding.
However, you can always return later with the required Chroma without affecting your quest progress.
Once you have the required amount, donate the Chroma, and another slightly ominous riddle about paintings will be given. Interact with the “fountain” a final time for a request of 50,000 x Chroma.
Upon providing the Chroma, the Benisseur will awaken, rising from the earth.
It will express gratitude for listening to its stories and reward you with Recovery Pictos (Level 20 in the initial playthrough and Level 33 in NG+). These Pictos, offering 10% health regeneration at the beginning of each turn, are well worth the investment.

Similar to other Nevron quests, after satisfying the Benisseur in the Red Woods, you’ll be given the option to attack.
To maximize your rewards from these Nevron quests and to secure the Aiding the Enemy achievement, it is strongly suggested you spare the Benisseur. Choosing to attack will reward you with 3 x Colour of Lumina and 1 x Grandiose Chroma Catalyst upon its defeat.
