Critics are voicing strong opinions, accusing a particular effort of being
a blatant attempt to seize funds, a deceptive tactic, and a diversion
from significant endeavors.

These accusations are aimed at
the president’s recently launched meme coin,
$Trump

(
TRUMP-OFFICIAL-USD
). However, to believe that
the actions of Trump are unrelated to the
cryptocurrency world shows a lack of understanding regarding why many
individuals are invested in this space.

Some cryptocurrency advocates might
think Trump’s involvement casts a negative
light on the industry
. Yet, this is simply avoiding responsibility;
it’s a defense mechanism employed to
distance oneself from the less appealing
aspects of the sector
, a tactic observed during
the collapse of FTX. Which was, allegedly,
meant to signal the start of an
effort to restore faith in the
industry
, a purification process to eliminate its negative traits.

However, Trump serves as a reminder that the fundamental money-making
machine is not distinct from the cryptocurrency sector; it is a
reflection of it. The meme aspect embodies the essence of the industry.
It represents the practical and real element of crypto, the ultimate
application. The
serious individuals seeking to distance
themselves
between their work in crypto and $Trump’s purely
non-economic intent continue to pursue the promise of accessible and
innovative financial solutions. Such thinking is misleading. One might
even call it shameful. It’s still a few steps behind self-reflection.

Trump’s high-risk, high-reward token mirrors his larger appeal in the
political arena. Trump doesn’t feel obligated to mask his ambitions or
feign lofty goals. $Trump isn’t designed as a real currency, it’s simply
another collectible item, similar to his trading cards. It’s not intended
to empower those without bank accounts or free workers from traditional
financial institutions. In line with his political persona, Trump’s
views and language are often coarse and provocative, but this is often
perceived by his supporters as honesty, purity, and even conviction.
Have fun. Make money. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT. There is no
complex financial concept here. Even Melania now has $Melania (
MELANIA-USD
).

During his initial term, though perhaps less likely moving forward, Trump
often put the wider conservative movement in a defensive posture. Even his
staunchest allies often had to struggle to defend his most outrageous
comments or divisive policies.

The world of cryptocurrency is quickly entering the Washington
establishment. And, they are lining up. Why take issue with Trump when
you can accept the attention, validation, and riches he provides?
Robinhood (
HOOD
) and Coinbase (
COIN
) alerted their users earlier this week that $Trump is available for
trading on their platforms.
