Ross Ulbricht, a notable figure in the early days of Bitcoin and founder of the Silk Road marketplace, has reportedly received substantial Bitcoin contributions following his recent public address after being released from incarceration.

According to insights from Lookonchain, a blockchain analytics firm, Ulbricht’s designated donation address amassed 300 BTC early Sunday. At current market values, this equates to approximately $31.4 million.

Data analyzed by Arkham Intelligence indicates a significant portion of these donated funds were subsequently transferred to the Kraken cryptocurrency exchange within hours of receipt.

Ulbricht, who secured his freedom earlier this year through a pardon issued by former President Trump, delivered a speech at the Bitcoin 2025 conference over the weekend. This marked his first public appearance since his release.

Conor Grogan, a director at Coinbase, reveals that Bitcoin wallets linked to Ross Ulbricht, which were untouched since his imprisonment related to Silk Road, still contain a considerable amount of BTC, estimated to be worth tens of millions of dollars.

While the United States government seized a substantial quantity of Bitcoin connected to Silk Road, Grogan suggests that authorities were unable to recover all of the cryptocurrency.

“I’ve identified roughly 430 BTC spread across numerous wallets associated with Ross Ulbricht that were not confiscated by the U.S. government and have remained untouched for over 13 years. These wallets, likely considered insignificant at the time, now collectively hold approximately $47 million. Welcome back, Ross.”

However, Grogan expresses uncertainty regarding Ulbricht’s ability to access the Bitcoin held in these dormant wallets.

“It’s unlikely he still has the keys stored anywhere, but perhaps we will find out soon enough!”
