Last week, your humble correspondent mused:

“Another seven days have vanished into the abyss. In theory, this means we’re now a week closer to the much-anticipated launch of Silksong. Though those words feel increasingly hollow these days.”

Does this prescience bestow upon me the gift of prophecy?

Here’s a rundown of what the RPS crew will be diving into this weekend, as we collectively await September 4th!

Edwin
I’ve received an invite to test out the unusual kaiju cop simulator, Militsioner, so I may dedicate some time to that. Also, I’m considering exploring a couple of space-themed games: the classic Ironseed and the more recent House Of The Dying Sun. These choices stem from recommendations in the comments section of my recent piece about Deck & Conn. Though, truth be told, Ironseed’s complexity might overwhelm my brain after a week immersed in Gamescom. So many options! Beyond gaming, I anticipate conducting research for a future article, catching up on my anime backlog, and venturing outside to observe that magnificent, ultra-high-definition OLED display we call the sky.

James
I shall be engrossed in playing absolutely ANYTHING that catches my eye on the Gamescom floor, provided the wait times aren’t excessive, as standing for long periods is tiring.

Jeremy
The Rogue Prince of Persia has officially exited Early Access. You might already be aware if you happened to read the rare news report I penned earlier this week! Those who contribute to the RPS Advent Calendar know I have a soft spot for the Prince, even if roguelikes typically hold my attention for only a limited time. This weekend, I’ll be plunging in, hoping for a positive experience. The stellar soundtrack, a fusion of traditional Persian instruments and trap music, has been persistently stuck in my head for the past year.

Mark
“Mark Warren” is a cleverly rearranged form of “Warm Ranker”*.

Nic
“Nic Reuben” transmutes into “Inner Cube” via the magic of anagrams.

Ollie
I’ll likely continue coordinating with friends and family on Discord, followed by extended periods of concentrated silence as we collectively devise our next steps in our Satisfactory adventure. Our central hub has undergone its third or fourth major overhaul (“tear it down and rebuild it better!”), and I believe I’m finally pleased with its current iteration. Meanwhile, others have been occupied with more fascinating projects, such as Nuclear Power and, I believe, something involving Aluminium. I will also repeatedly fail to persuade my housemate that Manifolding is a legitimate verb within the context of factory simulation games.

*I suspect I could have been more cunning with that one.

And you, esteemed reader, what games will be occupying your time this weekend?…
