Do US Midterm Elections Indicate Positive Trends for Bitcoin?
Market expert Omkar Godbole has pointed out that historical trends reveal Bitcoin typically appreciates by an average of 53.7% in the year following US midterm elections. However, past performance is not a guarantee of future results for Bitcoin in the upcoming year.
Godbole suggests that while these statistics are significant in advance of the elections on November 3rd, the potential increase in Bitcoin’s value may be more influenced by its four-year halving cycle than by political events.
He emphasizes that the aftermath of elections may not be solely attributed to political factors. The halving process, which occurs roughly every four years, has historically been a crucial factor in Bitcoin’s price movements.
Specifically, each of the four halvings experienced thus far has led to a notable price surge, peaking 12 to 18 months later before entering a downturn. These downturns coincided with midterm election years: 2014, 2018, 2022, and the anticipated one in 2026. Therefore, any recovery seen after the midterms might signal the start of a new price cycle rather than merely a political influence.
