Former Ripple CTO Predicts XRP Could Flip Bitcoin: Here’s His Reasoning. Photo by BeInCrypto

This year marked a significant achievement for XRP prices: for the first time, all three months of July, August, and September closed positively, surpassing even quarterly results.

This is noteworthy, as previous years had positive quarterly outcomes, but often included at least one month that ended negatively.

A Historic Financial Quarter for XRP

In previous years, XRP sometimes concluded its third quarter positively, but at least one month during those periods would close negatively. This year, however, that trend was entirely disrupted, based on data from CryptoRank.

July saw a 2% increase, followed by a 30% rise in August, and a 7.95% boost in September, culminating in a remarkable quarterly gain exceeding 43%.

The surge in price was driven by institutional interest via U.S. spot XRP ETFs and a short squeeze in September, alongside continued outflows from exchanges. Since April, exchange balances have dropped from about 12.9 billion to 11 billion XRP.

Currently, XRP is trading around $1.50, with a market capitalization near $95 billion. Recently, the weekly chart broke through a descending trendline that had been holding prices back since July 2025.

Can XRP Price Repeat This Feat in Q4?

The historical data offers conflicting insights for XRP in October. Traditionally, it ranks as the weakest month, averaging a return of nearly -4.71%, and has recorded negative closes in both 2024 and 2025. In contrast, the overall fourth quarter tends to be more promising, boasting an average gain of 13.3% due to strong performances typically seen in November and December.

Experts anticipate some volatility before any notable upward movements, including sideways trading. Several factors remain crucial, including Ripple’s Swell conference at the end of October, developments in institutional interest, ongoing ETF inflows, and decisions from the Federal Reserve.

Maintaining a weekly close above $1.70 could enhance prospects for growth into November and December.

Conversely, a failure to retain current price levels could lead to a deeper retracement toward the support range of $1.30 to $1.40. To achieve three consecutive months of gains, XRP must navigate the seasonal challenges typically associated with October. The recent monthly streak demonstrates the asset’s potential to maintain momentum throughout an entire quarter.
