XRP is nearing a crucial resistance point against Ethereum, a level that has previously preceded significant price surges.

Crypto analyst Dom pointed out this potential development in a recent X post. He suggests that XRP is currently challenging a historically strong resistance level when measured against Ethereum’s value.

According to the XRP/ETH trading pair data, each time XRP has surpassed 0.0012 ETH, substantial gains of at least 160% have followed. The current XRP/ETH value is around 0.0011233, signaling that a substantial price movement for XRP could be imminent.

XRP/ETH Historical Breakout Patterns

Reviewing past market cycles, including those in early 2017, late 2017, and early 2018, reveals a consistent trend. Once XRP successfully broke through the 0.0012 ETH mark, it rapidly increased in value within a relatively short time.

Now, in 2025, XRP is retesting this critical level, sparking discussions about whether historical patterns will repeat.

Dom emphasized that overcoming this resistance could result in XRP significantly outperforming ETH. He also noted that even a more modest rally (around 80%) would still mark XRP as a powerful performer against Ethereum.

Potential Multi-Month Outperformance of XRP Against Ethereum

This builds on Dom’s previous predictions regarding XRP potentially surpassing Ethereum during this bull market. He highlighted that since November 2024, XRP has already increased by an impressive 483% compared to Ethereum. While XRP appears poised for further gains against ETH, it is currently battling this key historical resistance.

He believes this could represent the beginning of a substantial shift, with Ethereum either underperforming or XRP significantly outperforming. He predicts that once this barrier is broken, XRP will embark on another extended period of outperforming Ethereum.

Looking at the USD chart, Ethereum is already showing substantial underperformance compared to XRP. Since the start of the year, Ethereum’s price has decreased by 33%, while Bitcoin has only seen a slight dip of 3.7% during the same timeframe. In contrast, XRP has achieved a noteworthy year-to-date increase of 19%.

With price action intensifying, Dom mentioned setting alerts for a confirmed breakout of XRP/ETH.

Beyond the XRP/ETH pairing, a growing number of crypto enthusiasts now believe that XRP could overtake Ethereum as the leading altcoin, second only to Bitcoin.
