New Eridu is buzzing with excitement as Zenless Zone Zero celebrates its first anniversary in a big way! Version 2.0 is now live, bringing with it a highly anticipated Xbox release and a special login bonus event. Players can snag a free S-Rank Agent and an S-Rank W-Engine of their choice from the standard gacha pool. Plus, there are 1,600 Polychrome (in-game currency for 10 gacha pulls), along with an exclusive profile badge and avatar to commemorate the celebration.

While you might be surprised that a year has already passed since Zenless Zone Zero’s debut, the official launch date was actually July 4, 2024. However, HoYoverse typically aligns anniversary events with update cycles (every six weeks), giving players roughly 40 days to log in and claim all those fantastic anniversary rewards.

Zenless Zone Zero is an action RPG set in a stylish urban fantasy world. The story follows siblings Belle and Wise, who run a video store that serves as a cover for their real job: guiding skilled “Agents” through dangerous “Hollows” – exclusion zones that appeared after a major cataclysm in New Eridu. Unlike other HoYoverse games, the main characters are only playable in the hub world. Players control the Agents, acquired through the gacha system, during combat scenarios.

Version 2.0 marks the start of the game’s second major story arc, promising to delve deeper into the mysteries established in the first year. The update also introduces fresh characters and storylines. Today marks the arrival of two new Agents: the S-Rank Yixuan and the A-Rank Pan Yinhu. These Agents represent the game’s 11th playable faction, Yunkui Summit, which is expected to have a significant role in the upcoming narrative. Notably, Yixuan is the first Rupture Agent, introducing a brand new damage type and combat class to the game since its initial release.

Along with the commencement of Season 2, Zenless Zone Zero, previously available on PC, PS5, and mobile, now makes its way to Xbox Series X/S consoles and Xbox Cloud Gaming.

The launch of Zenless Zone Zero 2.0 coincides with an ongoing labor dispute involving US-based voice actors for ZZZ, Genshin Impact, and Honkai: Star Rail.

Several voice actors across these titles have been replaced in recent months, including a significant portion of the original Zenless Zero cast. Some actors have suggested on social media that their participation in the strike, aimed at securing protections against AI being trained on their voices, is linked to the loss of their roles. HoYoverse has not directly addressed the strike, citing “recording scheduling arrangements” as the reason for the recastings.
