Mayor Eric Adams is set to travel to Las Vegas tomorrow, funded by taxpayers, to discuss bitcoin at a cryptocurrency convention, as revealed by The Post.
Adams will appear as a ‘featured speaker’ at the conference organized by the crypto event firm DNA House, sharing the stage with notable figures in the cryptocurrency realm, including biotech entrepreneur and former political candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, along with Bryan Johnson from Venmo.
Former President Donald Trump may also participate virtually, whereas Vice President JD Vance is expected to attend in person.
This trip follows Adams’ recent ‘NYC Crypto Summit’ at Gracie Mansion, where he announced the formation of a digital asset advisory council aimed at generating more crypto-related jobs in New York City.
“We are entering an era of tokenization that encompasses cryptocurrencies, blockchain technology, and numerous fintech innovations. This era has arrived, and we will push forward,” Mayor Adams stated at last week’s inaugural event.
DNA House is co-founded by cryptocurrency mogul Brock Pierce, who attended last week’s summit. In 2021, Pierce flew Adams on his private jet to another crypto event in San Juan, Puerto Rico, although the Mayor claimed he covered the travel expenses himself.
City Hall confirmed to The Post that this quick visit to ‘Sin City’ is part of his official duties as Mayor. He will be accompanied by Deputy Mayor for Intergovernmental Affairs Tiffany Raspberry and NYC’s Chief Technology Officer, Matt Fraser.
Press secretary Kayla Mamelak noted that Adams has maintained an interest in cryptocurrency since he took office.
“Building on our first Digital Assets and Crypto Summit, Mayor Adams will join the 2025 Bitcoin Conference to foster relationships in this emerging industry to enhance our local economy, attract top talent, and promote innovation in New York City,” she stated.
The convention is scheduled for May 27-29 at Maggiano’s in Las Vegas, with Adams set to speak tomorrow evening.
