On this day, the US Senate is set to vote on the CLARITY Act, a significant milestone for Bitcoin and various altcoins. This procedural vote, scheduled for September 15th, will determine whether discussions can move forward regarding the establishment of a regulatory framework for cryptocurrency markets.
In order for the bill to advance, it requires a total of 60 votes. However, it’s important to understand that this vote does not imply immediate enactment of the law; rather, it simply allows for further deliberation in the Senate. At this stage, Senate members are deciding whether to progress to a general assembly to discuss the legislation.
Implications of the Vote for Bitcoin and Altcoins
Market analysts believe that a favorable outcome for the CLARITY bill could lead to significant gains for Bitcoin and altcoins such as Ethereum, Solana, and $XRP. Some experts suggest that if the vote goes well, $ETH, $SOL, and $XRP might outperform Bitcoin significantly.
Bitget Wallet’s research analyst, Lacie Zhang, mentioned to Coindeks that clarifying the roles of the US SEC and CFTC under this bill could enhance institutional participation and expand the variety of products available for $ETH, $SOL, and $XRP.
The rationale is that Bitcoin already has a more defined regulatory status than other prominent cryptocurrencies. Presently, Bitcoin has improved access to ETFs, better infrastructure for institutional investment, and an enhanced regulatory framework. Thus, it is believed that the potential benefits of a new regulatory approach could be more pronounced for Ethereum, Solana, and $XRP.
According to Zhang, Ethereum stands to gain the most, particularly because of its role as a payment layer for stablecoins, decentralized finance, and tokenized assets. The analyst predicts that should regulatory clarity positively influence the DeFi sector, tokens like UNI and AAVE could surge faster than $ETH, $SOL, and $XRP, although this would also come with increased risks.
Bitcoin Could Reach $90,000!
According to TDXStrategy, a firm specializing in quantitative cryptocurrency trading, if the vote yields a positive result, Bitcoin might break through the $82,000 resistance and potentially climb to the range of $88,000 to $90,000.
On the other hand, should the vote fall short, Bitcoin may face a downturn towards the approximate level of $73,000.
