Brief Overview

  • Beth Kindig anticipates “another significant decline” for Bitcoin in the near future, but maintains her long-term outlook of $2 million unchanged.

  • Achieving $2 million by 2030 requires approximately 127% annual growth, over twice Bitcoin’s average growth of 59% over the past decade.

  • Recent data shows a reversal in net flows for spot Bitcoin ETFs, dropping cumulative inflows from $58 billion to roughly $56 billion within two weeks.

Beth Kindig, a technology analyst at the I/O Fund, expects Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC) to experience another downturn before it can rise again, while also forecasting that it may eventually reach $2 million. “Anticipate one more significant drop in the upcoming months,” she mentioned on X on November 6, 2026.

She further remarked, “Our long-term view of Bitcoin hitting $2 million remains intact, but the journey isn’t expected to be linear.”

As of November 8, Bitcoin is priced at approximately $75,662, reflecting an 8% drop over the past month and a 13.3% decrease this year. This follows a peak of $84,082 recorded on October 21. Charlie Bilello noted that Bitcoin and gold are among the poorest performing major assets this year.

Kindig ties her skepticism to fluctuations in currency markets. In a November 5 commentary, she pointed out a strengthening dollar and climbing bond yields. She noted, “Bitcoin peaked two months later only to drop 54% since then.” Currently, Bitcoin sits around 40% below its peak of $126,080 from October 6, 2025, which likely accounts for the 54% decline from the June 30 close at $58,566.

Is it truly possible for Bitcoin to hit $2 million, equating to a 26-fold increase from its present price of $75,000? What timeline would be needed for this to occur?

If Bitcoin reaches a valuation of $2 million, its market capitalization would rise to approximately $40 trillion, compared to around $1.52 trillion currently. This market cap is determined by multiplying the coin’s price with the amount of coins in circulation. As of now, 20,109,575 of the total 21 million Bitcoins are already in circulation. With most of its supply released, a substantial increase in price would necessitate significant new investment, given the relatively fixed supply.

This anticipated valuation would greatly surpass private gold holdings, as noted by various financial institutions. For instance, JPMorgan Chase (NYSE:JPM) estimates private gold holdings to be around $8 trillion, while their volatility-adjusted projections place Bitcoin’s fair value at approximately $5.3 trillion or about $266,000 per coin.

While Kindig is optimistic about Bitcoin’s prospects, she hasn’t pinpointed a specific timeline for reaching the $2 million target. This timeline is essential to assess how steep the path to growth needs to be. To achieve $2 million by 2030, Bitcoin would need to rise at around 127% annually. Extending the timeline to 2035 would reduce that requirement to approximately 44%.

Bitcoin has experienced remarkable growth, with an increase of 10,587% over the last ten years, as reported by Bilello, averaging about 59% growth per year. Achieving $2 million by 2035 would require Bitcoin to grow at a slower pace than this historical rate, while aiming for 2030 demands a much higher annual growth rate.

What Could the Next Major Decline Look Like?

Currently, Bitcoin is on track for its fifth consecutive weekly loss, dropping from a closing price of $86,507 the week of October 4 to around $75,662. This week, it dipped as low as $74,722. Hedgeye reports that the cryptocurrency hit an eight-week low, falling below $76,000 on November 5.

Bitcoin is presently trading beneath both its 20-day moving average of $79,362 and its 50-day moving average of $81,889, indicating that short-term sellers are dominating the market. The next support level where buyers typically re-enter is at the 200-day average sitting at $73,194, which is about 3% lower than the current price.

Even optimistic analysts have expressed concerns about the current situation. On September 19, Jordi Visser remarked, “If Bitcoin is under $80,000 by the end of October, there’s an issue,” and Bitcoin wrapped up October close to $77,474.

To understand the potential depth of the next major decline, it’s worth reflecting on the last significant drop when Bitcoin plummeted to a closing low of $58,566 on June 30, marking its lowest closing price in a year. Another similar decline could surpass the 200-day moving average and bring Bitcoin back toward that June low.

For Bitcoin to Reach $2 Million, Liquidity and ETF Trends Must Shift

Kindig stressed in her November 6 commentary that global liquidity is a significant factor influencing Bitcoin’s price. The M2 money supply, which includes cash, checking accounts, savings and money market funds, rose to $23.41 trillion in September, marking a 0.5% increase from August and an increase from $22.25 trillion in November 2025.

However, despite the rise in the U.S. money supply, Bitcoin’s value has dropped 25.8% over the past year, indicating that the strengthening dollar and rising yields are overshadowing any positive effects from increased liquidity.

Spot Bitcoin ETFs enable stock investors to purchase Bitcoin through brokerage accounts, bringing in considerable capital. Recently, inflows reached $526.6 million on October 19 and $528.4 million on October 21, coinciding with Bitcoin’s 30-day peak of $84,082.

Unfortunately, this upward trend took a turn, with ETFs seeing outflows of $643.3 million on October 30, $430.2 million on November 5, and $411.9 million on November 6. This caused cumulative net inflows to drop from $57.96 billion on October 21 to $55.7 billion by November 6.

Is a 26-Fold Increase to $2 Million Feasible for Bitcoin?

The prospect of Bitcoin reaching $2 million by 2030 seems quite unlikely, and the odds remain low even for 2035. Achieving this goal by 2030 would require an annual growth rate of about 127%, far exceeding the past decade’s average of 59%. To move forward, Bitcoin must stabilize at its current 200-day average of $73,194.
