Anchorage Digital has also provided financial support to the Fellowship. Kevin Wysocki, the policy lead at the crypto bank, remarked that their involvement with both Political Action Committees (PACs) demonstrates a “dedication to fostering bipartisan policy solutions.”
“The most significant legislative victories for cryptocurrency — including the passage of the GENIUS Act — have stemmed from the strategic leadership of representatives from both political parties,” he stated in a comment to CoinDesk.
Other entities in the crypto space, such as the Solana Policy Institute and Multicoin Capital, have partially funded another PAC — the Sentinel Action Fund. This organization has launched a robust $8 million advertising initiative aimed at opposing Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown in his bid to reclaim a seat in the U.S. Senate, where he previously chaired the Senate Banking Committee and hindered crypto legislation. Recently, it has also directed nearly $900,000 in support for Republican Mike Rogers’ Senate campaign in Michigan.
However, no other PAC comes close to the scale of Fairshake, which boasted $193 million in available funding before the election cycle kicked off. It stands as not only the leading campaign fund for the crypto sector but also as a significant super PAC across various U.S. industries and political entities.
With U.S. House veteran Green facing a significant defeat this week, a representative from Fairshake, Geoff Vetter, highlighted this as evidence that “opposition to crypto comes with repercussions.” This sentiment is clearly echoed by the industry’s financial backing, even as lawmakers up for election navigate their stances on crypto legislation.
