The U.S. Senate has decided not to address the crypto market structure bill prior to its month-long recess. However, industry stakeholders remain optimistic for a vote in September when the Senate reconvenes in Washington, D.C., according to several sources tracking the legislation, as reported by CoinDesk.

The crypto sector was hopeful that the Senate would extend its session to address pending matters, including the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Yet, bipartisan disagreements over key aspects of the legislation remain unresolved. The Senate is set to return to D.C. on September 14, 2026, giving lawmakers three weeks to tackle this and other pressing issues.

On the final day before the recess, the Senate plans to vote on a continuing resolution to fund the federal government leading up to the midterm elections, as well as on a sanctions bill against Russia, which has been led by Senator Lindsey Graham and his colleagues. There will also be several nominations to consider.

Politico reported late Thursday that the Senate did not anticipate initiating a vote on the Clarity bill before the break.
