WASHINGTON (TNND) — Federal authorities have confiscated over $560,000 in cryptocurrency, along with seizing websites and servers that Hamas allegedly utilized to gather donations and attract supporters online, as reported by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
“This is a clear message to Hamas: We will put an end to your fundraising efforts for terrorism,” stated U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro on Tuesday. “Your networks are compromised, your cryptocurrency is exposed, and we will persist until your capacity for warfare is dismantled.”
The DOJ indicated that this operation focused on the fundraising mechanisms linked to Hamas’ military wing, the Al Qassam Brigades. Hamas is classified by the U.S. as a foreign terrorist organization.
“We are committed to using every resource at our disposal to eliminate terrorist funding and disrupt Hamas wherever it operates — including in the digital realm,” Pirro emphasized.
