Ethereum Maintains Stability With $302 Billion Market Capitalization

Recent data over the past month highlights a notable increase in ethereum’s price, boasting a 29.6% rise compared to bitcoin. However, metrics for the year-to-date and the past 12 months reveal that bitcoin still retains a significant lead. Among the total market capitalization of $2.7 trillion in the cryptocurrency sector, ether is valued at $302 billion, achieving approximately 10.8% market dominance as of today.

$ETH continues to hold its ground as the second-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, being $119 billion ahead of Tether (USDT). Over the weekend, $ETH trades have fluctuated within the $2,445 to $2,483 range, with a slight decrease in trading volume at $6.74 billion in $ETH-based transactions in the last 24 hours.

The current support for $ETH is positioned between $2,300 and $2,400 per coin, while resistance levels this Saturday are estimated around $2,500 to $2,600 and beyond. A daily close in the $2,550 range could significantly improve the current price outlook. Currently, prices are above both short and long-term simple moving averages (SMAs) and exponential moving averages (EMAs) based on the daily analytics.

Oscillators indicate some uncertainty, but there are no signs of overbought conditions, with the relative strength index (RSI) hovering around 62.5 this weekend. Conversely, the Ethereum moving average convergence divergence (MACD) sits in negative territory at 119.45. The momentum indicators are also bearish, as reflected in the daily chart showing a value of -28.25 at this moment.

$ETH Supporters Are Optimistic About September

Much like bitcoin enthusiasts, ethereum supporters are filled with optimism and are adopting a bullish stance. A notable $ETH advocate known as Bitmine Marine on X expressed a strong belief that the price of ethereum “will surge rapidly from this point.” He noted that “it will be swift and intense; everyone is eager to buy at lower prices, but that opportunity may slip away. The general sentiment in September is bearish. Most wallets lack $ETH, suggesting September could turn out to be a positive month for cryptocurrencies,” the X account elaborated.

$ETH faced the fourth-highest liquidation among crypto assets over the past day, with $7.13 million in leveraged $ETH positions liquidated, including $5.29 million from short positions.

Historically, the cryptocurrency market tends to struggle in September, with many traders looking toward October, often dubbed “Uptober,” as a prime period for digital asset gains. Nevertheless, ethereum, as the second-largest digital asset by market capitalization, finds itself in a phase of consolidation after a recent breakout past the $2,550 level. Moving averages continue to favor bullish momentum; oscillators suggest the excitement from August has subsided. However, the fervor among $ETH advocates remains strong as they persist in their optimistic forecasts, asserting that ether is set for significant growth.

Arthur Hayes Predicts Quick 3x to 5x Increase for $ETH

This week, Scott Melker, known as The Wolf Of All Streets, quoted BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes, who remarked, “Ethereum is my top pick right now,” adding that $ETH could achieve a “3x to 5x increase in a short timeframe.” Whether this prediction will materialize remains uncertain. While $ETH is currently outperforming bitcoin in the short term, several other major cryptocurrencies in the top 20 are displaying even stronger performance.
